Questions

What are Open Graph tags?

Meta tags in a page's head that tell social sites and messengers which title, description and image to show when the link is shared. Without them, each site guesses.

What size should the image be?

1200 by 630 pixels, in the wide shape, works well almost everywhere. Use a full https address, and keep important content away from the edges.

How long should the title and description be?

Keep titles under about 60 characters and descriptions under about 160. Longer text gets cut off, and the tool warns you.

Do I need the Twitter tags as well?

X falls back to Open Graph tags, but the twitter:card tag chooses between a large and a small image. The tool writes both so the card looks as you intend.

Why does a shared link still show the old preview?

Platforms cache previews. After changing the tags, refresh the cache with a share debugger such as Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector.
